The Level 3 Fire, Emergency, & Security Systems Apprenticeship
This fire and security apprenticeship covers designing, installing and maintaining electronic systems to protect businesses, homes and properties against fires, break-ins and other emergencies.
Level: 3 (Equivalent to A Levels at grades A-E)
Typical Length: 36 months
The course will:
• Teach all the necessary skills for gaining employment in all areas of the fire and security sector.
• Improve and develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours for the workplace in both industry and beyond
• Provide a practical alternative to A-Level qualifications.
What to Expect on the FESS Apprenticeship
Apprentices can expect to work on-site with an employer and attend our academy for theory two days per month.
This gives them the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a workplace environment, as well as within some classroom-based work.
Apprentices will learn about:
• Installing, Testing & Maintaining Different Systems – for a wide range of fire, emergency and security systems.
• System Technologies – including retrieving, storing, receiving, transmitting and manipulating electronic data using a range of devices.
• Electrical & Electronic Principles – including codes of practice, design criteria and commissioning.
• Communication – to clearly and concisely communicate any issues with security systems to their owners.
• Specialist Fire, Security & Emergency Lighting – essential knowledge for a security engineer.
• Health & Safety Practices – all the relevant legislation and compliance practises.
